What does a Valvoline Instant Oil Change Lube Technician do?

A Valvoline Instant Oil Change Lube Technician is an employee in training to become a Certified Technician. Technicians work alongside Certified and Senior Technicians while they learn to perform our core oil change services. Duties include servicing oil filters, air filters, grease fittings, lights and wipers, as well as changing oil, other fluids, and rotating tires.

What does it take to become a Valvoline Instant Oil Change Lube Technician?

You need to be able to:

  • Work in varying temperature conditions
  • Work quickly
  • Enjoy hands-on work
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Have full body mobility
  • Work on your feet for extended periods of time with your hands above your head
  • Maintain Store appearance and proper maintenance
  • Be on time for work – no misuse of the late policy
  • Perform all our services we sell
  • Top side
  • Bottom side
  • Guest Greeting
  • Point of Sale
  • Transmission fluid exchange
  • Coolant exchange
  • Fuel filter service
  • Lights
  • Battery service and new installs
  • Gear boxes
  • Wipers
  • Rotate tires
  • Cabin air filter service
  • Serpentine belt service
  • Air filter service
  • Complete and perform Super Pro
  • Accomplish goals and tasks
  • Follow training development program
  • Spotlight on behavior monthly at an acceptable level
  • Performance reviews and evaluations quarterly
  • Eligible every 6 months in their current job for a merit increase review
  • Follow a supervisors reasonable order
  • Perform reasonable job assignments
  • Work within 5 hours of scheduled time
  • Respect other people and their property

You need to know:

We will teach you each of the technical skills you need to know in order to perform these car care services during our on-the- job training program. By the end of your training, you will be a Valvoline Instant Oil Change Certified Technician.
